Following some dubious reporting by The Telegraph around the state of the Champagne market there has been uproar In Crickalde over the misleading headlines.
Champagne Sales Plummet claimed the paper, saying,
”The world is in no mood to pop champagne corks under confinement, according to makers of French bubbly, who predict a plunge of up to 75 per cent in the sale of bottles of fizz in the second quarter due to global lockdown.”
However Champagne sales in Cricklade have soared in recent weeks with a large majority being consumed in regular Fizz parties at Womble Cottage. One local resident, from behind a pile of compost, was quoted as saying “Every night is party night in Womble Cottage. I don’t blame them for making the most of falling prices.”
